THE REFERENCE FOR WISCONSIN NATIONALS “Buy the book first” has been a adage long used in the numismatic lexicon. Without adequate knowledge in your area of interest, financial risk can become paramount over collecting enjoyment. Although Federal production numbers can be readily obtained through this and other works, survivability and condition of those notes has been relatively unknown to collectors. Over 11,500 known Wisconsin National banknotes are documented in this book. Having a comprehensive understanding of rarity and condition of Wisconsin banknotes will make the numismatic pursuit more enjoyable.
The information on Wisconsin notes contained in this book has been compiled over the past 7 years, mostly by direct observation. National & regional shows, auction catalogs, dealers price lists & inventories, private collections, numismatic books, the Internet and even eBay have all been sources for the information presented here. It should be noted that each week, newly “discovered” notes are added to this census. With an estimated 17,000 - 20,000 Wisconsin banknotes speculated to exist, this book is not complete but an ever-changing work in progress.
